What the app stores

• Account: your email address (or the Google/Apple account you sign in with) and, if you signed up with the email form, your date of birth, used for the 13+ age requirement. Your date of birth is never shown to other members.
• Profile: username, display name, photo, cover photo, bio, status, location, interests and favourite foods — whatever you choose to fill in.
• Content: your audio recordings, post titles and descriptions, comments, reactions, saved posts and who you follow.
• Moderation: reports you send, and moderator or admin actions taken on an account.

Who can see it

• Your profile, posts, followers and stats each have their own setting: everyone, followers only, or nobody.
• Posts you hide stay visible only to you (and to moderators for moderation purposes).
• Your date of birth and moderation status are not part of any public profile view.
• Moderators and admins can see accounts and content for moderation.

Audio recordings

Recordings are held in the app's file storage and are played through authorised, short-lived links that follow the audience your privacy settings allow. A link already issued can keep working for up to five minutes after you change a setting, hide a post or delete it. A copy someone already downloaded, or a play already under way, cannot be recalled.

Your controls

• Edit or clear profile fields at any time under Edit Profile.
• Edit, hide or delete your own posts from the ⋯ menu.
• Change who can see your profile, posts, followers and stats under Edit Profile → Privacy Settings.

Visitor measurement

Fartbook can measure visits to its public pages using Google Analytics, a Google service, and only after you accept on the cookie notice. Analytics loads nothing, requests nothing and stores nothing before you accept; declining keeps it off, and you can change or withdraw your answer at any time on the Cookies page. The app itself still stores your sign-in session and your own settings, which is not optional. When Analytics is on, it measures a sanitised page visit from a short fixed list of public page names, a click on a signup button, and a confirmed email signup. Google also receives the standard technical and usage data its service collects, such as a pseudonymous cookie identifier, browser and device details, and a rough location worked out from your IP address. Fartbook never sends your email address, date of birth, username, search terms, recordings or private page addresses, the referring page is removed, and advertising features and Google Signals stay off.
